School starts on Monday the 7th of September normal time.
On Friday 20 March a partial total eclipse will be visible in the UK between 8:25 and 10:40 am, when the Moon will cover about 85% of the Sun.
While not as spectacular as a total solar eclipse, it will still cause a slight dimming of the sunlight. The eclipse is a potential hazard for eyesight, particularly if viewed with filters not specifically made for solar observation. Unsafe filters include sunglasses, CDs and films. Observing the eclipse without appropriate protection, or with protection not designed for Sun observation, will cause permanent damage to the eyes. The damage does not cause pain, so it is especially dangerous as the body does not have the usual warning. We therefore suggest you warn your children about it. Proper protection can be found for example at this link: http://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?page=search&SS=eclipse+solar+glasses&ACTION=Go%21&PR=-1&TB=A Unfortunately a full school observation is impractical. Therefore only a few selected boys from the 6th form will document the event for the school. ![]()

We are approaching the end of the sequence of matches so it is important that you let me know if you have not had or will not have a chance to play. I would like the captains of both 7KB and 7RCG to come and talk to me today or tomorrow. MW From now on, there will be no swimming, but instead basketball (indoor.) make sure you are wearing non-marking shoes.
Remember to bring your history 'Medieval Realms' book to this Friday's lesson
After half term the three new classrooms come into use. They are numbered 32, 33 (Economics) and 34. They will be solely for Sixth form use.
To keep a logic to the numbering of classrooms throughout the building, the Modern Languages IT suite (which used to be 35) has been renumbered as 37. The upstairs of the LRC (which used to be 32) is now labelled as room 35. The only change that affects Years 7 to 11 is the renumbering of room 35. All timetables will reflect this change directly after half term, so MFL lessons that were in 35 will be in room 37, but there is no change of venue. You go to the same room as you do now – the MFL IT suite. Just a reminder that Monday is the deadline for registering your interest for the Pompeii Trip via email with Mrs Cheshire in the Main Office.
I will draw the ballot after school and inform you and your parents the following day. If you do get a place, your parents will need to pay the initial deposit by the end of the week. Dear all
